A new base for Bastion Tower

Bastion Tower commissioned the firm Art & Build Architects with the task of completely rethinking the building’s base. In order to strengthen the presence of the Bastion Tower in its urban environment and within Brussels, the architects’ proposal is based on the idea of forming a transition between the public space and the reception area.

“The intentions and objectives of the architectural and urban planning project can thus be summarized in three major elements. First of all, it is planned to adapt the base of the tower and to add a large glass roof which will be used to make the Bastion Tower an important emblem in the district. Subsequently, the public space at the foot of the tower will be redeveloped to restore its role as social meeting place, source of tranquillity and urban landmark. Finally, the tower’s reception areas will be modernised with a ground floor opened to the world, considered as a living space that reflects the tower’s dynamics.”
